Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, secured a N300 million bail after facing a four-count charge for allegedly printing new naira notes without following due process. Emefiele pleaded not guilty to the charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

During the arraignment before Justice Maryanne Anenih at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama, Emefiele, the sole defendant, was required to produce two sureties owning titled property within Maitama. Additionally, he must surrender his travel documents and seek court permission for international travel.

This bail, mirroring conditions from a prior bail granted by Justice Hamza Muazu, necessitates Emefiele to provide certified true copies (CTCs) of documents submitted earlier. Justice Anenih adjourned the trial to May 28th.
